Purpose of SMS Communication


Louisville Prosthetics uses SMS (text messaging) communication exclusively for patient care and administrative purposes. Our text messaging service is designed to enhance your healthcare experience by providing:

  • Appointment reminders and confirmations
  • Important health information and updates
  • Care instructions and follow-up reminders
  • Administrative notifications related to your treatment
  • Emergency or urgent patient communications


Important: We do not use SMS for marketing, promotional, or commercial purposes.


Consent and Enrollment


By providing your mobile phone number to Louisville Prosthetics, you consent to receive text messages related to your healthcare and treatment. This consent includes:

  • Text messages sent by automated systems
  • Messages from healthcare providers and staff
  • Time-sensitive communications regarding your care


You may provide consent verbally, in writing, or electronically. Consent is not a condition of receiving healthcare services from Louisville Prosthetics.


Message Frequency


Message frequency varies based on your individual healthcare needs and treatment plan. You may receive:

  • Routine appointment reminders (typically 24-48 hours before appointments)
  • Follow-up care instructions as needed
  • Administrative updates when necessary
  • Urgent healthcare communications when required


We limit messages to essential patient communications only.


Data Privacy and Security


Louisville Prosthetics is committed to protecting your personal health information in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy laws:

  • SMS communications may contain protected health information (PHI)
  • Messages are transmitted using secure methods when possible
  • We maintain records of SMS communications as part of your medical record
  • Your mobile number and message history are kept confidential

Security Reminder: SMS messages are not always encrypted. Please be aware that text messages may be less secure than other forms of communication.


Your Mobile Carrier and Charges


  • Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier plan
  • Louisville Prosthetics is not responsible for carrier charges
  • Delivery of messages depends on your carrier and network availability
  • We are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages due to carrier issues


Opt-Out Instructions


You have the right to stop receiving text messages at any time:

To opt out immediately:

  • Reply STOP to any text message from Louisville Prosthetics
  • Call our office at 502-584-2959
  • Email us at wayneluckett@louisvilleprosthetics.com
  • Inform any staff member during your visit


After opting out, you will receive one confirmation message, then no further SMS communications. Opting out does not affect your ability to receive healthcare services.

To resume messages: Contact our office to re-enroll in SMS communications.


Technical Requirements and Limitations


  • You must have a mobile device capable of receiving SMS messages
  • Messages are designed for standard text messaging features
  • Some older devices may not display messages properly
  • International messaging may not be supported


Liability and Disclaimers


Louisville Prosthetics makes reasonable efforts to ensure reliable SMS communication, but we cannot guarantee:

  • Delivery of all messages due to technical issues
  • Receipt of time-sensitive communications
  • Uninterrupted service availability

You acknowledge that:

  • SMS should not be used for medical emergencies
  • You should contact our office directly for urgent concerns
  • Technology failures may occasionally disrupt service
  • We are not liable for consequences of delayed or undelivered messages

For medical emergencies, always call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.


Updates to These Terms


We may update these terms and conditions as needed. We will notify you of significant changes through:

  • Posted notices in our office
  • Updates on our website
  • Direct communication when required by law

Continued use of our SMS service after changes indicates your acceptance of updated terms.
